Christopher Proudlove has a background that
combines journalism with press and public relations for two of the
world's three largest fine art auctioneers.
He was formerly Head of Press
and a senior director of Sotheby’s in London and most recently
a director and Group Head
of Press at Bonhams.
During this latter period he
successfully steered Bonhams' public
relations department from its merger with Phillips Auctioneers to its
acquisition of Butterfields, the premier fine art auctioneers on the
West Coast of America.
Retaining his principal
interest in fine art and antiques, Christopher is now a consultant specialising in
Press, PR and Marketing for a number of auctioneers including
Byrne's,
The Canterbury Auction Galleries,
Chilcotts,
Ewbank,
Morton and Eden,
Peter Wilson,
Rogers Jones and
Thomas Del Mar.
Christopher has been writing about antiques and
collecting since 1979 and his articles have been published in numerous
national and regional newspapers and magazines. He currently
writes a weekly collecting column for the Liverpool Daily Post, monthly
columns for Cheshire Life, Lancashire Life and North Wales Living magazines and is the
publisher of his own website
WriteAntiques.
Positive editorial is a
powerful promoter of a company’s credibility. As an experienced
journalist, Christopher understands how to create effective media
exposure, which actively
raises the public profile of his clients.
One of the great attractions of
public relations
is its cost effectiveness. Generating media exposure need not be
expensive and yet it has three times the value and effect of
advertising. The news and feature articles
Christopher creates sells objects and services. They educate
potential customers and encourage them to contact you. They
increase name recognition and create a positive company image.
